May 1993:
Todd's friend met Trent at a party (Todd said "bullshit!" the first time his
friend told him this) but Trent gave Todd's friend a copy of a personal remix
tape that had Stone Cold Crazy, Tie Your Mother Down by Queen, Remix of Symphony
of Destruction by Megadeth, and an untold amount of special remixes of Head...
Terrible Lie, Sanctified, Kind I want to. Todd's friend gave Todd a copy of this
tape.
June 2005:
I tracked down Todd via the internet and sent him an email asking about this
tape. As it turned out, Todd was still in possession of his copy. Todd
graciously provided me with a copy of the 90 minute cassette spread out across 2
CD-Rs. I eagerly gave it a listen, but found the contents to be less exciting
than I'd imagined. While much of the tape was culled from halos 3 & 4, it did
still contain the rare Reznor remix of Queen's Tie Your Mother Down.
Regrettably, the copy of this mix I already had was better in quality.
June 2020:
Cleaning up around the house, I stumbled upon the 2 CD-Rs containing this mix
tape. After pondering it for a bit, I reached out to my friend John to see if he
might be interested in reconstructing this tape from digital sources. John had
never heard of this tape before and was happy to participate. Here, I share the
results of 27 years of effort. You've likely heard everything on this tape
before, but here it is presented in something close to its original context. The
quality is likely better than it ever was on the original tape, the sequence
preserved, but it's possible that Todd was just a wee bit excited and mistakenly
referenced mixes of Sanctified and Kinda I Want To that do not appear on the
tape.
