Description:
Post Punk and Alternative Rock are very generic terms to describe John Moore.
To me this album sounds like a cross betweem Billy Idol's rockier moments and The Jesus and Mary Chain around the Honey's Dead and Automatic albums.
Very simple and catchy rock songs where the beat is always so straight the drummer could be a machine.
When the songs are good, as Something About You Girl or Good Times the album is genuinely compelling. However when the songs don't work it just goes nowhere.
This album has a couple of good songs, already mentioned, another couple of lousy songs (Underground and One To Five) and the rest hangs in between. His next album, Distortion, would up the ante on songwrting as well as add a bit more variety to the songs so it's a better recommendation than this.
But in any event this is a fun rock album if you like this style. (rateyourmusic.com)
