The debut album of the band from the port city of Wilhelmshaven (Lower Saxony), formed in 1969 and named after guitarist Gert Krawinkel in the English manner. In 1970 they moved to Hamburg, where at that time the major record companies were located, and signed a contract with Phonogram, a subsidiary of Philips. To create an appropriate creative environment, the band settled in Volkmarst (near Bremervörde). The debut album of the same name was recorded in London at IBC Studios, after which the band went on a European tour together with Frumpy and Spooky Tooth. In September 1970, Cravinkel opened the Love and Peace Festival (the European answer to the Woodstock Festival) on the island of Fehmarn
