UFO 50 is a set of independent games produced by five developers: Derek Yu known for Spelunky, Eirik Suhrken from Skorpulac, Jon Perry (Time Barons), Paul Hubans (Madhouse) and Ojiro Fumoto responsible for Downwell. The title was released on the PC platform by Mossmouth, owned by the first of the aforementioned creators. Although it is a set of very diverse productions, the developers have combined them with one concept. According to it, in the 1980s, there was a fictional publishing company that had a number of previously unreleased games in its catalog. It was decided to present them to the world as part of UFO 50. Interestingly, in order to make this story a bit more credible, the developers deliberately imposed various restrictions on themselves and, for example, used only a unique palette of 32 colors. Thanks to this type of procedure, they managed to capture the atmosphere of those times, although at the same time they tried to maintain the current approach to design. UFO 50 gives us access to fifty different titles. We can choose between platformers, shoot 'em ups, logic games or RPGs. All of them were created in the style of the 8-bit console era, so they offer quite simple gameplay mechanics. Each of the games created allows you to play in single player mode, and as many as one third allows you to play in multiplayer (competitive or cooperative). Importantly, the projects created as part of UFO 50 are not ordinary mini-games, but full-fledged titles. Although they are slightly smaller than the commercial hits from the 80s, completing them all takes over a hundred hours. UFO 50 released on the PC platform is a tribute to old games, so in terms of audiovisual setting we are dealing with a retro atmosphere. ..::TECH-DATA::..
