This is how we dealt with using true stories in an ethical way at Welcome to Ełk: The stories in "Welcome to Ełk" are told by people we know and/or were there when these events occurred. Everything is told from memory. The way they are used both on our website and in-game is consistent with the core story, but everything like names, locations and other details are changed, renamed and often reframed to protect the real people who behind them, that's why we call them tall stories. The stories are not individual, as in a true crime story, for example. They are transcribed and combined into one linear narrative.
