I believe the best scenario would be CRF 35-32 with preset 2 or lower to reach VMAF 95, but I don’t have the machine for that today. I’m predicting more than 100 hours to encode. Besides that, I did some previews with CRF 35, preset 5, and I was getting awesome quality and grain even with just a 93.65 VMAF. If you’re hardcore about grain and quality, I think 20–30 GB is the minimum for this video, or even better go with the remux. Why VQ tune? Because at lower bitrates, visual quality tune usually produces a better image than grain tune.
