Northgard is a real-time strategy released on the Windows PC platform, set in the magical world of the Vikings and Nordic mythology. The independent studio Shiro Games, known for the original series of action adventure games Evoland, is responsible for creating the title. The game's plot tells the story of Nordic warriors who, after many years of tedious exploration, came across a mysterious, rich land called Northgard. The bravest Vikings quickly turned their ships towards the land, wanting to bring glory to their gods and clans, and write new pages of history through conquest and trade. To become famous, however, they will first have to face the dangers that await them in the new world. The gameplay mechanics in Northgard draw a lot from the achievements of classic RTS games such as the Age of Empires, Age of Mythology and The Settlers series. Developers from the Shiro Games studio, however, did not limit themselves to copying the established patterns of the genre, based on obtaining raw materials, expanding the settlement and fighting. As the game takes place in the Far North, the game also features, among others: survival elements, and one of the player's main tasks is to ensure the survival of his clan during long and extremely cold winters.
