The only album by the Texas band, previously known as "Bubble Puppy." In 1969, Bubble Puppy released their first LP under the International Artists label, which also turned out to be their last—the band had serious conflicts with the label, making further collaboration very problematic. Without bothering much with resolving "labor disputes," the guys simply fled their undesirable management and, with their lineup intact, released a new album in 1971, this time under the name "Demian." The "name change" occurred for two reasons: first, to avoid problems with their previous label, which had certain rights to Bubble Puppy's work, and second, to distance themselves from association with the burgeoning bubblegum scene, to which the band had no connection other than the similar-sounding name. Overall, it's a very good hard rock record, occasionally veering toward the ballad-like motifs of the '60s psychedelia the band had previously performed. A very interesting, good album that should appeal to both hard rock fans and psychedelic enthusiasts
