Max WEB-DL: Dolby Vision metadata (thanks again vevv). The Warner Bros USA LaserDisc (1991) was also considered but finally only used for the sake of comparisons. Quoting bla-ray.blogspot.com: "The mono track on Warner's UHD disc is either a downmix of the 5.1 remix or a new mono mix prepared from the files that ultimately created the 5.1 mix. The easiest-to-spot difference is Paint It Black during the end credits, which was always slightly sped and pitched up in the original mono mix but plays at the correct speed in the 5.1 and new mono mix." As suggested elsewhere, the quality discrepancy between the UHD and the DVD mono tracks is also made obvious by jumping at 1:50:53 and listening to Animal Mother's "Hardcore, man. F'n Hardcore". On the UHD's mono track it sounds like the line was recorded in a studio and edited into the scene. Unsurprisingly, the DVD Mono track does not exhibit this at all. Overall, the mono track from the Warner Bros USA NTSC DVD (1999) sounds by far the best of all audio tracks and was therefore picked as default. The RPU file was extracted from the Max WEB-DL with dovi_tool and synchronized to the UHD video track. The HDR metadata (MaxFALL/MaxCLL) were measured from the UHD video track with measure_hdr10_content_light_level from awsmfunc. The Level6 metadata were then updated with the new values, and the new RPU was injected in the UHD video track with dovi_tool. The PGS subtitles from the 1080p Blu-rays were tonemapped at 70% to match those of the UHD Blu-ray. Previous remux was using a downmix instead of original mono and older DoVi metadata (v2.9).
