The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak (1984), directed by Just Jaeckin, hybrid uncut 4k remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including French 5.1 remaster, original French theatrical stereo, English dub 5.1 remaster, English mono dub, two commentary tracks, and subtitles in English, French, and German. Note : When Raiders of the Lost Ark reignited the exotic adventure genre, many other filmmakers were quick to follow up, but not many did it so weirdly as the aptly named Just Jaeckin with this loose adaptation of a series of French BDSM-themed erotic comics. It's vaguely competent, but mostly an excuse to show off the attributes of Tawny Kitaen, who finds many excuses to get partially undressed throughout the movie, as well as the equally sculptural Brent Huff and Zabou Breitman, backed by Bernadette Lafont and Jean Rougerie, and a bunch of no-name actors who were willing to get naked on camera. It also manages to be wildly racist, with both wily Chinamen and primitive, spear chucking cannibal tribesmen, before revealing the old canard of a lost civilization of highly advanced white people (in this case, mostly naked white women). Pretty fun all in all, if you don't mind Kitaen's acting, or if you're particularly into Asian dwarf titties. Gwendoline is captured and sold into slavery, but is rescued by Willard, and reunited with her maid Beth. The women convince him to take them along to the land of the Yik-Yak, where they hope to find and capture an elusive butterfly who Gwendoline's father spent his life chasing. This leads to a series of adventures and being menaced by various racial caricatures, before ending up in the city of Pikaho, where a merciless Amazon queen runs an all-female society whose economy is based on diamond mining and bondage equipment. A pretty good 4k remaster here from German label Camera Obscura, combined with some audio from a Severin release. There's a bit too much grain, and the image isn't overly sharp, but it looks pretty nice. All sound tracks are also pretty good quality, and you can check out the commentaries if you want the people involved with this to explain themselves.
