Overview

Nora Helmer has years earlier committed a forgery in order to save the life of her authoritarian husband Torvald. Now she is being blackmailed, and lives in fear of her husband finding out, and of the shame such a revelation would bring to his career. But, when the truth comes out, Nora is shocked to learn where she really stands in her husband's esteem.

Director: Patrick Garland
Cast: Claire Bloom, Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Richardson, Denholm Elliott, Anna Massey

Description:

2160p 5000k video bitrate Dual ENG-GER audio tracks in Dolby AC3 stereo Only German subs included from the disc - no other subs found - the Bugarian subs at opensubtitles.org do match but the english subs showing there for quite some time now do not match this version directed by Losey . If you are a fan of Henrik Ibsen's most famous work "A Doll's House" the best version - in fact the only faithful production to the original best work is Norway's State TV Broadcaster (NRK)'s version entitled "Et Dukkehjem" with we were first to bring you here in 720p we managed to get from the NRK site You just gotta have it. This version here today is an opportunity to view the play from a different angle only - the plight of Sir Edward Fox's characters need to "improve his prospects" if he is to marry the women he loves as he is in fact poor. He finds a resort to blackmail in order to get a paying job at a bank to be his only hope it seems to him. Is this in fact justifiable? The Bank manager Torvald is a mean spirited man and his wife played by Jane Fonda does not garner the sympathies of the dear woman cast as "Nora" in the original NRK production as her spirit is in fact shown for the precise benefit of making the point of showing how opposite it is to that of her husband Torvald as becomes so much clearer even as we reach the end of the story.
