The Beastmaster (1982), directed by Don Coscarelli, Vinegar Syndrome 4k remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including 5.1 remaster, original theatrical stereo, two commentary tracks, and English subtitles. Note : Some more classic 80s sword and sorcery, headed up by the eightiest man who ever eightiesed, Marc Singer, along with Tanya Roberts, with not much to do but show her tits, Rip Torn, whose appetite for scenery is only matched by the wild angles of his eyebrows, John Amos, lending a certain dignity to the proceedings. There are also horny ferrets. Coscarelli is a horror guy, of course, so there's a nice sprinkling of creepy and weird shit in here too, and it's generally a fun time for all. A group of weirdo witches prophesize that evil high priest Maax will die at the hands of King Zed's unborn son. Having read the Bible and watched Willow, Maax sends one of the witches to kill the child. She uses some incredibly weird magic to move the fetus out of the pregnant queen's womb and into a bull, from which she then cuts the baby and whisks it away. However, when she's about to sacrifice it, she's surprised by a random villager who kills her and takes the baby to raise it as his own. Dar, as the child is known, grows to be a skilled fighter, and because he was magically born from an animal, has the power to communicate telepathically with animals. This comes in handy, because the peaceful village is soon ravaged by barbarians in league with Maax, and he sets out on a journey of revenge, accumulating a menagerie of animal companions along the way, including an eagle, a pair of ferrets, a black panther, and a Playboy bunny. This of course leads to an inevitable confrontation with the forces of evil. This is a fine 4k remaster, although it's a little grainy and murky at times. There's some weird stuff going on with color in some places, though, which I suspect might be artifacting resulting from grading it in HDR first (see for instance the weird sacrificial fire in the beginning), although the film also has a lot of gradient color filters and whatnot. Both the 5.1 remaster and the original stereo sound perfectly fine, and both commentary tracks are worthwhile. Hot tip Quote:HeVK torrents always have lots of keywords.
