Trama
L'ormai vecchio Tyrus Raymond Cobb, detto Ty, mitico campione di baseball a cavallo tra
gli anni Venti e gli anni Trenta (Lee Jones), incarica della sua biografia il giornalista
sportivo Al Stump. Questi, vivendo a fianco del committente, scopre la vera natura dell'ex
campione, un razzista che disprezzava le donne, i negri, gli ebrei e che beveva. Che cosa
dovrà scrivere? Quello che vorrebbe Cobb o le cose come in effetti stanno? Da noi (a parte
forse gli appassionati di baseball, che non sono legioni) il nome di Ty Cobb non dice
nulla, ma negli Stati Uniti è stato una stella di prima grandezza. Ma il problema è che,
per una volta, una biografia sportiva made in Hollywood è scipita.
